perfect time for an off day
The Cubs had the day off today before they host Atlanta tomorrow night at the Friendly Confines. The Braves come to town with one of the worst road records in baseball at 7-21. The Cubs, as we know, have one of the best home records in the majors at 26-8. The Cubs will be sending Ted Lilly to the mound while the Braves counter with Glavine. Last time out, Lilly faced the Braves in what would be the series finale in Atlanta. Lilly couldn’t get out of the first inning in a heated game that involved ejections, tempers, and physical altercations.
Another thing that is noteworthy is that the Cubs have been fortunate to get the teams they have been meeting at the most opportune times. The Cubs will be facing an Atlanta team without the .400 hitting Chipper Jones and John Smoltz. This is right after the Cubs missed a Dodger line-up without Rafael Furcal and Nomar Garciaparra, and a Rockies line-up without Holliday or Tulowitski. The Cubs seem to be getting the breaks lately as far as the teams they have played being without key players.
Go Cubs.
