cubs are 1-4 on the first of the month
I missed yesterday’s game so I’ll do a quick recap: Cubs lost 0-3 as was completely unexpected by the mood of the previous entry. After an incredible and important series against the Brewers, the Cubs failed to score any runs for Jason Marquis on Friday afternoon. The Cubs grounded into three double plays and left eight men on base. Overall, it was not a very good day for the offense.
Today was a little different. Ted Lilly played the role of stopper again as the Cubs did not extend the losing streak. Lilly pitched 6.1 innings, allowing only one earned run to score. While the Cubs did ground into three double plays for the second day in a row, the offense found ways to score via a little bit of small ball. Reed Johnson went 3-4 with a couple runs scored and a stolen base. Overall, it was an excellent effort by the entire team and it seems as though the Cubs are back on track after a small hiccup yesterday.
Up next, the Cubs send Carlos Zambrano (12-4) to face off against Ian Snell (4-8).
Go Cubs!
