NLCS - Phillies v. Dodgers

Published by kevinryan12 at 9:12 pm under In-Game Thread Edit This

So I’m watching the NLCS: Dodgers v. Phillies and I can’t help but feel depressed.

Well, not as much anymore.  Phillies just hit a 2-run home run and the game is tied.

Anyhow, I kind of really want the Phillies to win simply because I don’t care for Manny Ramirez and his attitude and I also just don’t care much for anyone else on the Dodger roster (nothing personal though).  I kind of like the Phillies too as I feel they have a good team all around and I have to respect that they have played well all year, unlike the Dodgers who really only decided to show up once Manny Ramirez joined the team.

In the end, I guess I can really care less who wins as it’s not the Cubs.  I think it would be cool to see the Phillies win a pennant as those fans seem to be just about as die hard about their team as Cubs fans are.  They deserve to see a winner just as much as Cubs fans do.

I’m kind of in a foul mood… probably for obvious reasons.

Pat Burrell just hit another home run and it’s now 3-2 Phillies.  Why couldn’t the Cubs do this against Derrek Lowe?  Makes you kind of wonder what it’d be like if it were the Phillies line-up against one of the Cubs’ pitchers.

Ugh the worst part was the errors. Game two was the worst effing game they played all season man! Zambrano pitched his heart out and our infielders blew it for him. Oi vey.

That being said, I don’t think the team is far off. There aren’t a lot of needs (outfield perhaps, I doubt we’ll get that good a year out of Edmonds again, and Fukudome better train real hard this offseason and make some adjustments - like actually hitting a curveball) the rotation is solid (just locked Harden up) and all of the infield is pretty solid too. Call me crazy but, I wouldn’t mind seeing Lee go. He hit into a lot of double plays this year. Then again he was one of the only cubs to hit in the postseason. Oi vey.

Good game tonight. I’m rooting Phillies too, although I really like Andre Ethier, that kid is fun to watch.

As for us, I really think 07/08 was our window of opportunity, and it just slid closed. I wrote a post a few days ago about all those back-loaded contracts we signed coming back to bite us starting next year. The money’s just not there to make any real changes to the roster, and it’ll even be a stretch keeping our good young players like Soto, Marmol and Theriot in a Cubs uniform in the near future.
