cubs sale to occur before Opening Day
It is with mixed feelings that I write this entry. According to an article released by ESPN, Chicago Cubs’ chairman, Crane Kenney looks to have the Cubs sold by Spring Training. The reason that I say that this report gives me mixed feelings is because this is starting to become a joke.
I remember two years ago when the sale of the Cubs was announced. I remember feeling kind of excited because I wasn’t the biggest fan of the Tribune ownership, and I had high hopes for Mark Cuban to buy the Cubs. And then it became a circus: “The Cubs will be sold before Opening Day 2007,” then it was “This is an impossiblity, but they will be sold before the playoffs.” And then when that never happened, reports surfaced that the Cubs would be sold during winter meetings. And then it was guaranteed that the Cubs’ sale would be completed before Opening Day 2008. And this just keeps on going on and on and I don’t really make much of these articles.
So basically, I’d prefer not to report on these stupid rumors but there’s no other news at the moment. So there you have it. The Cubs are supposedly going to be sold by Spring Training! Take that with a large grain of salt.
